Celebrating Sankofa

Glancing at your past achievements while moving forward. Sankofa is a Twi word from the Akan people of Ghana that means “to retrieve” or “go back and get it”. It is also the name of an Adinkra symbol that represents learning from the past to create a better future.

Please join Rev Henrietta Byrd and our own Chris Ussery for a musical celebration during this morning’s service. Bring family and friends as it is sure to be a joyous occasion.

We will have a fun morning of Christmas Carols and sharing of stories while we create new memories for the year ahead.

How is homelessness both a personality responsibility and a political issue? Federal and local levels of government have instituted a number of plans to end homelessness over the last 20 years. Is ending homelessness really possible?

A service on the obligation of those who have more to give freely to those who have less, especially during the holiday season of hope and renewal.  The goal of this service will not be to arouse guilt, but instead to concentrate on awareness and compassion.
