Article II of the Unitarian Universalist bylaws has gotten a lot of attention recently because our denomination has appointed a commission to study it with a mind toward amendments. The most famous part of Article II is of course, the Seven Principles, and they deserve that place of prominence. But Article II also states that we affirm and promote Six Sources that inform our “living tradition.” This service will not only inform you about the lesser-known Six Sources but also explore and celebrate the way they can be drawn upon in myriad combinations to produce an infinite variety of UU faiths among the members of our congregations. And don’t worry–even if they don’t get stated the same way in the new version of Article II, these sources will surely not become irrelevant, but instead mix with an even wider variety of faith influences to nurture our individual and collective searches for truth and meaning.
