“I’ve Known Rivers”

By: Jennifer Cottrill

Archetypal symbols that appear in the mythology and art of ancient and modern cultures around the globe are multivalent—that is, they carry a variety of psychological and spiritual meanings. This service will explore the meanings of one such image—the river—as it appears in scripture, stories, poems, and songs and will use these reflections as an entry point into a neuroconservationist approach to environmentalism.
