1805 – The Universalist storyteller Hans Christian Andersen was born at Odense, Denmark. A successful novelist and poet, Andersen is best known for such fairy tales as “The Little Match Girl,” “The Ugly Duckling,” “The Snow Queen,” and “The Red Shoes.” In 1842 he wrote The True Story of My Life.
